A SHORT BIOGRAPHY

Elmer Roslin is a Filipino artist whose versatility and depth have earned him a distinct place in contemporary Philippine art. He studied Visual Communication at the University of the Philippines Diliman, College of Fine Arts. Though formally trained in design, his journey took an expressive path. It eventually led him to painting as his primary medium.

Roslin’s body of work reflects restless creativity and a deep commitment to exploration. Over the years, he has built a diverse portfolio, moving across genres, techniques, and historical styles. His ability to shift between different approaches has made him one of the most multifaceted artists of his generation.

Even in his early years, Roslin showed exceptional artistic promise. As a high school student in Antipolo, he joined local and national art competitions. People quickly recognized his talent. He was a finalist in the Shell National Student Art Competition in 1995 and 1996. Later, he received a Juror’s Choice award from the Art Association of the Philippines in 1997.

In 2000, Roslin reached a milestone by winning the Grand Prize in the Metrobank Art and Design Excellence (MADE) competition. More achievements followed, including selection as a finalist in the 2003 Philip Morris Philippine Art Awards and the 2005 Ateneo Art Awards.

These recognitions helped launch his professional career and led to his first solo exhibition at Boston Art Gallery in 2002. Since then, he has presented many solo exhibitions and joined group shows in the Philippines and abroad. He has also exhibited his works in Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, and Switzerland.

Elmer Roslin’s work continues to evolve, driven by curiosity and a desire to push artistic boundaries. With over two decades of experience, he remains a vital presence in Philippine art. He is an artist committed to mastering his craft while continuously redefining it.
