Distrongka Exhibition at Pinto Art Gallery | Antipolo Artists

Invitation design for Distrongka group exhibition at Pinto Art Gallery in Antipolo, featuring works by contemporary Filipino artists exploring destruction and metaphor.

Pinto Art Gallery presents Distrongka, a compelling group exhibition that brings together Antipolo-based artists Daniel Aligaen, John Paul Antido, Edrick Daniel, Dennis Fortozo, Guerrero Habulan, Joven Mansit, Elmer Roslin, Jerson Samson, Jaypee Samson, Julio Samson, and Reynaldo Samson Jr. Opening on June 9, 2013, at 3 p.m. and running until June 30, the show takes place at Pinto Art Gallery, 1 Sierra Madre Street, Grand Heights, Antipolo City.

The exhibition title plays on the pun between distrongka and pinto, blending humor with sharp commentary. Literally meaning the destruction of any material provision securing an enclosure, distrongka here becomes both subject and metaphor. Through their works, the artists interpret this idea across different lenses—exploring physical breakdown, social disruption, psychological release, and cultural transformation that occurs when boundaries are breached or structures collapse.

By presenting diverse visual languages under one theme, Distrongka redefines the act of breaking down not as mere loss but as the opening of new spaces, meanings, and possibilities. In this context, destruction is not only an end but also the start of something else: the opportunity to rebuild, reframe, and rethink the very structures that once confined us. Each participating artist adds to this conversation with works that highlight the tension between fragility and resilience, chaos and renewal.

The exhibition also reflects on Antipolo’s thriving art community, showcasing how local voices continue to push boundaries and contribute to a broader cultural dialogue. Distrongka ultimately positions Antipolo’s contemporary art scene at the forefront of exploring creation, destruction, and renewal as interwoven forces in the human experience.
